The High-Schooled Assistance Dog Program (HS-A) is offered to interested schools and juvenile centers. The program, which has at-risk teens training and placing assistance dogs, has a proven track record. Its success has been featured on 20/20 and Oprah (where it received a Use Your Life award).
Statistical data shows the program has a number of benefits for its participants:
Self-esteem increased as much as 80 percent
Attendance improved more than 73 percent
Referrals for problem behavior decreased 89 percent
The average GPA rose 32 percent |
