"Grant is always hugging and kissing Dandy, but now he is singing I love you, I love you, I love you to him. The other day when he finished singing to the dog I told him that I loved him. He stopped and thought and said, " I like you". So now the truth is out, he likes the dog better then me. It seems that his bond to the dog is growing over time, just what I had hoped for."

"This program helps a child become a well-adjusted, successful, competent adult in whatever path they choose. Some of the students enrolled in the dog class program are those students at greater risk. These students experienced the pride of accomplishment, the responsibility of commitment and had a new self-esteem. Not only does it benefit the students but also the community."

"We have had Anna now for one whole week and this is what we have observed in this short amount of time. We've already seen his verbal skills increase by him stringing three and four-word sentences together, which hasn't really occurred up until now. He helps with her grooming, walking, feeding and even reads to her. By interacting with her, we've noticed that he has dramatically decreased his meltdowns. We hadn't anticipated this happening so quickly, but are pleasantly surprised."

"We took Claire and Shia to church this morning. It was a dream come true for our family! My husband kidded that Shia is a good Catholic because every time we stood up during Mass, Shia did too. When we sat down, down went Shia. Claire was able to receive Holy Communion and although she asked when we were leaving a few times and was restless a little bit during the service, Claire did really well overall. A friend who knows Claire from our school district and from trying to work with Claire at Sunday school years ago, remarked after church that Claire seemed so much calmer with a dog nearby to her."

girl who received Shia |
